Volunteering

We value highly what our volunteers contribute in terms of the hours they work. They enrich our services by bringing diversity, creativity and caring. Volunteers are involved in:

Volunteer drivers – to drive people out of town to Thames or Hamilton hospital appointments.

Family Op Shop volunteers – we have 2 shops. One at Social Services 2 Cook Drive open Mon-Fri 9.00-4.30 – the other is in Coghill St (opposite Coghill Café) open 9.30am to 2.30pm (Mon – Fri), 9.30am to 4pm (Sat), Closed on Sunday

Elderly Support Volunteers – required occasionally to shop for unwell elderly clients or to visit for a chat.

Budget Advisors – are part of the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting. They are formally trained and supervised for up to 1 year to be considered competent as an Advisor. They must adhere to the policies of the Federation and complete relevant paper and online requirements.

Volunteer furniture collectors – once a week they go around and collect donated furniture for our OP shops.
